But addicts of one kind or another tend to wallow in self-pity and in blaming other people. Far from seeing the glass as half full, they see it as half empty. They see the prospect of recovery in terms of something that they are going to lose rather than gain. Such self-obsession is highly unattractive. An attitude of gratitude, bringing hope and happiness to their own lives and to others each day would be more in order. Those of us who have suffered from neurotransmission disease are exceedingly fortunate to have a condition that is so readily treatable on a day-to-day basis and we should be grateful for that.
